GPL Race Engineer Installation

Installation Option 1: Full
----------------------------

Choose this option if you don't have either GRE or Visual Basic 6.0 and you want to do everything as simply as possible.

1. Download GRE_Full_vXXX.zip (4.3 Mb) and extract the contents into a temporary folder.

2. Run setup.exe. If you are warned that a given file is in use and can't be installed, don't worry about it. Just skip it and proceed with completing the installation.

3. When you open GRE Help, if you get a simple window without the Hide/Show, Back, Print, and Options buttons, it probably means you have an obsolete version of the Windows help module. You can get the current version (700K) at:

	http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/tools/htmlhelp/wkshp/hhupd.exe

Installation Option 2: Piecemeal
---------------------------------

Choose this option if you have an earlier version of GRE, or you have Visual Basic 6, or you prefer downloading smaller files.

1. If you don't already have Visual Basic 6.0 installed, download the free Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime, VBRun60sp3.exe (1.0 Mb), from:

	http://download.microsoft.com/download/vba6/utility/1/win98/EN-US/VBRun60sp3.exe

Download the exe to a temporary folder. Run it to install.

Details about this file are in this document:

	http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q235/4/20.asp

2. Download GREvXXX.zip (600 Kb) and extract the contents into a new folder, such as c:\Program Files\GRE. These files are required for GRE and must be in the same folder:

	GRE.exe
	readme.txt

3. Download GREOCX.zip (700 Kb) and extract the contents to c:\Windows\system. The following files should be included:

	MSCOMCTL.OCX
	COMDLG32.OCX
	RICHTX32.OCX

If there is an older version of this file in Windows\system, you may want to rename the older version first before moving in the newer version included in the GRE zip.

Component Update
----------------

Choose this option if you have an earlier version of GRE, and you have Visual Basic 6, and you have already installed the files from GREOCX.zip.

If you don't already have Visual Basic 6.0 installed, or if you haven't already installed the files from GREOCX.zip, go to Installation Option 1 or Installation Option 2, above.

1. Download GRE_exe_vXXX.zip (600 Kb) and extract the contents into your GRE folder, typically c:\Program Files\GRE.

2. Download GRE_Help_vXXX.zip (1 Mb) and extract the contents into your GRE folder, typically c:\Program Files\GRE.

These files are required for GRE and must be in the same folder:

	GRE.exe
	GREHelp.chm
